August 27, 2010, Newsletter Issue #46: 15 minutes Late can Cost you the Interview

Tip of the Week

Earlier this week I managed a schedule of interviews for the campus where I work. A young alumnus had trouble finding parking and arrived 15 minutes past his scheduled interview time. Typically, a recruiter would be understanding and try to fit the candidate in at some point during the day. However, this particular day our recruiter had a packed schedule and simply could not make time to see this candidate. A good lesson learned! Make sure to allow yourself plenty of time when you have a scheduled interview. Do a run through a couple of days prior to the interview so you can estimate your travel time, accounting for traffic, finding parking, etc.
